Petrol and diesel sales in the country registered double-digit growth in November as compared to the same period last year. This increase in the demand for petrol and diesel was recorded due to the increasing demand for the agricultural sector and the festive season. Petrol sales increased by 11.7 percent to 26.6 lakh tonnes in November as against 23.8 lakh tonnes consumed in the same month last year. These sales are 10.7 percent higher than the Covid-affected November 2020 and 16.2 percent higher than the pre-pandemic November 2019.
October registered a growth of 1.3 percent in demand as compared to the previous month due to the festive season. Sales of diesel, the most commonly used fuel in the country, increased by 27.6 percent to 7.32 lakh tonnes in November compared to the same month last year. Diesel demand has increased by 17.4 percent as compared to November 2020, while it registered an increase of 9.4 percent as compared to November 2019 before the Kovid period. Diesel demand is showing an increase every month since September. Its consumption has increased by 17.1 percent as compared to 6.25 million tonnes in October. The sale of petrol and diesel has been the highest in November after June.
Talking domestic LPG consumption, reached 2.55 million tonnes in November with an increase of 7.8 percent as compared to the same month last year. LPG consumption has increased by 8.4 percent compared to November 2020 and 13.3 percent compared to November 2019. Talking about the monthly increase, an increase of 7.07 points has been registered in November as compared to LPG consumption of 2.39 million tonnes in October.
ATF became cheaper, the price was reduced by 2.3 percent
Jet fuel (ATF) prices were reduced by 2.3 percent on Thursday, reflecting softening international prices of petroleum products. But the rates of petrol and diesel have remained stable for a record eighth month. Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) price declined by Rs 2,775 per kiloliter, or 2.3 percent, to Rs 1,17,587.64 per kiloliter in the national capital, according to the price notification of government-owned fuel retailers.
