Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has ordered another inquiry after complaints of irregularities in the distribution of liquor licenses. The Chief Secretary has been asked to investigate the allegations of favoring a blacklisted firm and promoting monopoly. A source in the Lieutenant Governor's office has given this information. The Lieutenant Governor has sought an inquiry report from the Chief Secretary in 15 days. This inquiry report has been sought at a time when the LG has recently recommended a CBI inquiry into Delhi's excise policy.
The report has been summoned within 15 days of the complaint made by a leading organization of jurists, lawyers, and prominent citizens. The sources gave this information while refusing to name the organization. A source said, “The Lieutenant Governor has asked the Chief Secretary to inquire into the complaint made by the organization in which prima facie serious irregularities have been committed in the distribution of liquor licenses. He (LG) and the Chief Minister have been asked to submit a report within 15 days.
"The complaint alleging promotion of monopolies and favoring blacklisted companies alleges that this was done in deliberate and pre-planned violation of the New Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22," the source said. Based on the report, LG will take appropriate action.” Since then, while the opposition has opened a front against the Aam Aadmi Party, the Kejriwal government is also very aggressive.
Congress demonstrated against Kejriwal's government
The Congress on Monday protested against the alleged violation of rules and procedures in the excise policy of the Arvind Kejriwal government and demanded the resignation of Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee leaders and workers gathered in the Patparganj area here and raised slogans against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Sisodia. Earlier, the Delhi Pradesh Congress made a written complaint to Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana, demanding a probe into the excise policy and alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party was steeped in corruption.
