Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) voters will play an important role in deciding who will be the next government in the country. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had his support in the last Lok Sabha elections. This time everyone's eyes are on these reserved seats.
In 2019, out of the total 131 Lok Sabha seats reserved for SCs and STs across the country, BJP had won 82. However, this time BJP faces a big challenge to repeat its performance on these seats.
SC reserved seats: BJP won 46 and Congress won six.
There were 84 reserved seats for Scheduled Castes (SC) in 2019. A maximum of 17 seats are reserved in this category in Uttar Pradesh, followed by 10 in West Bengal, seven in Tamil Nadu, and six in Bihar. BJP had won 46 seats and Congress had won six seats. Apart from this, TMC had won five seats, DMK and YSRCP had won four seats each.
Hansraj Hans had registered the biggest victory and BP Saroj had registered the smallest victory.
The biggest victory on the SC reserved seat was recorded by BJP's Hansraj Hans by 5,53,897 votes. BJP's Vishnu Dayal Ram was also in second position. He had won from Palamu Lok Sabha seat of Chhattisgarh by 4,77,606 votes. The BJP candidate who won with the least number of votes was BP Saroj. Saroj had won from Machlishahr Lok Sabha seat of Uttar Pradesh by just 181 votes.
ST reserved seats: BJP won 31 out of 47
In 2019, BJP also performed well on 47 Lok Sabha seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes. BJP had hoisted its flag on 31 seats. Congress could win only four seats. Biju Janata Dal had captured two seats. Independents had won two seats.
Maximum ST reserved seats in MP
Madhya Pradesh has the highest number of ST-reserved Lok Sabha seats in the country, six. After this, five seats each are reserved in Jharkhand and Odisha, and four seats each in Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. The biggest win on an ST reserved seat was by BJP's Horen Sing Bey from the autonomous Lok Sabha seat in Assam by 2,39,626 votes. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP)'s Mohammad Faizal PP had registered the smallest victory from Lakshadweep by just 823 votes.
