Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Assam's economy will be $143 billion by 2030. He also urged investors to be a part of the state's development journey. At the opening ceremony of the two-day 'Advantage' Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit here, the CM emphasized that the state has now become the 'most peaceful' state from the 'most disturbed'.
He claimed this year the state's gross domestic product (GDP) growth will be 15.2 percent. It will become a $143 billion economy by 2030. The CM said in the presence of heads of missions and ambassadors of more than 60 countries, foreign trade delegations, and industry leaders of the country, "I can assure you today that we will ensure the best work and favorable environment for setting up industries in Assam. Please come here and invest." He said that the state has seen a revival since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2014.

The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit has a special focus on tourism, renewable energy and hydrocarbons, electronics and semiconductors, aerospace and defense manufacturing, bamboo and sustainable crops, and food and beverages, among many other topics.
