The Election Commission will hold a press conference on Monday, a day before the counting of Lok Sabha election votes (Lok Sabha Result 2024). The Lok Sabha elections were conducted in seven phases. The elections started on April 19 and concluded on June 1.
This is probably the first time that the Election Commission will hold a press conference after the voting is over. The invitation sent by the Election Commission to the media states that a press conference will be held by the Election Commission on Lok Sabha elections 2024. Till the last Lok Sabha elections, the Deputy Election Commissioner used to hold media briefings after each phase of polling, but now this practice has been discontinued.
A set of instructions issued for election officials
At the same time, ahead of the announcement of Lok Sabha results on June 4, the Election Commission has issued a set of instructions for all election officers on the procedure to be followed for counting of votes from EVMs, VVPATs, and postal ballots for the Lok Sabha elections as well as by-elections to the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
