Congress vs BJP: Congress cornered the government on issues ranging from MGNREGA to pollution; Priyanka Gandhi asked a pointed question, and Jairam Ramesh criticized the government over GRAP.

The Congress party has attacked the government on a range of issues, from renaming MGNREGA to the severe air pollution situation in Delhi. Party MP Priyanka Gandhi, elected from Kerala, posed sharp questions to the government. Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh criticised the government regarding the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) implemented to control air pollution in Delhi. Trinamool Congress MP Derek O'Brien also questioned the government. Regarding the decision to rename MGNREGA, Priyanka Gandhi questioned the central government, asking about the government's intentions behind removing Mahatma Gandhi's name from the scheme.

Why is Mahatma Gandhi's name being removed?

Speaking to reporters in the Parliament complex, Priyanka Gandhi said that whenever the name of a scheme is changed, it requires massive changes in offices, stationery, etc. The government spends a lot of money on such activities. She questioned the benefit of changing the name. Why is all this being done? Why is Mahatma Gandhi's name being removed?

Time is being wasted, money is being wasted...

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi said, "Mahatma Gandhi is considered one of the greatest leaders not only in the country but in the world; therefore, the purpose behind removing his name is beyond my comprehension. What is their intention?" The MP, elected from the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala, while referring to the efficient use of time during Lok Sabha proceedings, said, "Even when we debate, it is on other issues, not on the real issues of the people. Time is being wasted, money is being wasted, they are only creating problems for themselves."
