After losing the IPL match against Lucknow Supergiants by 12 runs in IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya on Friday said that his team conceded 10-12 runs more while bowling. In the post-match award ceremony, Hardik said, 'Losing is always disappointing. If I am honest, we conceded 10-12 runs more in the field. In the end, we lost by this margin.'
Hardik praised his bowling.
Hardik took five wickets for 36 runs in this match. He has taken five wickets for the first time in T20 cricket. He said, 'I have always enjoyed my bowling. I do not have many options, but I select my options wisely by judging the wicket. Instead of taking wickets, I try to make the batsmen commit mistakes and bowl them dot balls.'
'Lagging as a batting unit'
Hardik also reprimanded the batsmen and said, 'I think we lagged as a batting unit. We win as a team and are losing as a team. I don't want to blame anyone. The entire batting unit will have to take responsibility for this. I take full responsibility.'
Statement on Tilak's retirement
Mumbai decided to retire Tilak Verma when the team needed 24 runs in seven balls to win. Tilak was struggling to play big shots. He scored 25 runs in 23 balls. When asked about this, Hardik said, 'We needed some big shots, but he was not able to do so. There are some days in cricket when you try but it does not succeed. Just play good cricket, I like to keep it simple.'
Lucknow wins
Lucknow Super Giants registered their second win in IPL 2025 by defeating Mumbai Indians by 12 runs in a thrilling match. Batting first, Lucknow scored 203 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs based on half-centuries from Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram. In reply, Suryakumar Yadav also hit a fifty, but his efforts went in vain and Mumbai could only score 191 runs for five wickets in the stipulated overs.
For Mumbai, Suryakumar scored 67 runs in 43 balls with the help of nine fours and a six. Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya bowled brilliantly and took five wickets for the first time in T20 cricket. Hardik took five wickets for 36 runs in four overs. He took the wickets of Markram (53), Nicholas Pooran (12), Rishabh Pant (two), David Miller (27) and Akash Deep (zero).
