
Coronavirus cases are increasing rapidly in India once again. The number of active cases in the country has reached 1252 and the total number of deaths so far has reached 13.
The highest number of 430 people is Covid positive in Kerala. The number of active cases in Maharashtra is 325, out of which 316 patients are from Mumbai only. Maharashtra is second in terms of active cases.
UP person dies in Chandigarh.
A person from Uttar Pradesh has also died during treatment in Chandigarh. This person used to work in Ludhiana, Punjab and after difficulty in breathing, the patient was referred to Chandigarh. There his test came out to be Corona positive.
A total of 13 deaths have occurred due to Covid in different states of the country. A total of 11 patients have died in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
Health department alert regarding PM Modi's visit

On May 26, two patients died of corona in Jaipur. One of these deceased was found dead at the railway station, whose report has come out to be Covid positive. The second death is of a 26-year-old youth admitted to a private hospital, who already had TB disease.
Death due to Covid in Maharashtra
A Covid-positive woman died during treatment in Thane, Maharashtra. In Thane itself, on May 25, a 21-year-old youth undergoing treatment in the hospital also died.
Earlier on May 17, an 84-year-old man died in Bengaluru. The health department had said that the elderly man died due to multi-organ failure. However, on May 24, his report came out to be Corona positive.
Which variants were found in India?
Two people have also died of corona in Kerala. Four new variants of Covid-19 have been found in India. ICMR Director Dr. Rajiv Bahl said that the variants sequenced from South and West India are of LF.7, XFG, JN.1 and NB.1.8.1 series.
Sequencing is being done by taking test samples from other places in the country so that new variants can be known. The doctor said that the cases are not very serious and there is nothing to worry about. He has appealed to the people to be cautious.
What did WHO say?
The World Health Organization (WHO) has also not considered these variants of Covid to be worrisome. However, it has been categorized as a variant kept under surveillance. This variant is seen in the increasing cases in other Asian countries including China.
The JN.1 variant of Covid is the most common in India. This variant is found in more than half of the samples tested. After this, cases of BA.2 and Omicron sublineage have also been found.
