Maharashtra Politics: Hearing on 16 rebel MLAs postponed, court restrains both factions from taking any decision in disqualification case

Amid the political upheaval in Maharashtra, the Shinde faction has got a big relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has postponed the hearing in the disqualification case of 16 MLAs of the Shinde faction. The court has said that a bench will be constituted in this matter. This process will take time.

 

Apart from this, the Supreme Court, giving relief to the Uddhav faction, has ordered the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker that till the hearing in the matter is not completed. Speaker will not take any decision. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the Uddhav Thackeray faction, had said that the disqualification case will be heard in the assembly tomorrow. Until the Supreme Court hears, the speaker should be barred from making a decision. On this, the CJI has stayed any decision on the disqualification of the MLAs.

 

 

Notices were issued to 16 MLAs

 

In fact, after the rebellion in Shiv Sena, the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly had issued notices to 16 MLAs raising questions on their qualifications. The Shinde faction had moved the Supreme Court against this notice. While hearing this matter, the court has restrained both the parties from taking any kind of action in the matter of merit-disqualification of MLAs.

 

Show cause notices to 53 MLAs

 

On the other hand, amid political upheaval in Maharashtra, State Legislature Secretary Rajendra Bhagwat has issued show-cause notices to 53 MLAs of both the Shiv Sena factions after receiving complaints from both sides. Everyone has to reply within a week. Maharashtra Legislature Secretary Rajendra Bhagwat on issuing show-cause notices to 53 Shiv Sena MLAs: Whenever we get an application, we have to act on it, so notice has been issued to every MLA against whom the application was made.
