The shocking news of negligence has come out from Maharashtra. In a village in Yavatmal district, about 700 km from Mumbai, sanitizer drops were given instead of polio drops in the mouths of 12 children. An official gave information about this on Monday.
An official of the district said that the affected children have been admitted to a government hospital, where their condition is stable. All the children were under five years of age. Action will be taken against three health workers for such lapses. The official said that the incident took place at Bhanbora Primary Health Center in Kapasikopari village where the National Pulse Polio Vaccination Program is being run for children between one and five years.

Yavatmal Zilla Parishad CEO Srikrishna Panchal said that 12 children under five years of age were given two drops of sanitizer instead of polio drops. The children complained of vomiting and restlessness. He told that the children who were given sanitizer drops have been admitted to the hospital. The condition of all the children is located and they are being monitored.
He said that according to initial information, a doctor, an Anganwadi worker, and an Asha worker were present at the Primary Health Center at the time of the incident. The investigation has been started and all three health workers will be suspended.
