Manipur violence: The fire of violence burning in Manipur, how the violent clash between two communities started

Manipur is burning in the fire of violence. Violent clashes are still visible today in Manipur between two communities Meitei and Kuki. Whereas, in the past, two women of the Kuki community were paraded without clothe by the men of the Meitei community. After this anger was being seen in the whole country. People gave a variety of reactions on social media.

 

Where is Manipur and who lives there?

The hill is located east of the northeast Indian state of Bangladesh and shares a border with Myanmar. It is home to an estimated 3.3 million people.

 

More than half are Meitei, while about 43% are Kuki and Naga, the major minority tribes.

 

What is happening in Manipur?

Manipur witnessed violent clashes between the two communities, the majority Meitei and the minority Kuki, in May this year. At least 130 people have been killed and 400 injured in this violence so far. More than 60,000 people have been forced to flee their homes as the army, paramilitary forces, and police struggle to contain the violence.

 

During these clashes, both communities ransacked several places and also looted weapons from several police stations. Hundreds of churches and more than a dozen temples were also vandalized and several villages torched during the violent clashes.
