Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday said that soon after the video surfaced, the state government took suo motu cognizance of the video and ordered an inquiry. He said that the Manipur Police took action and made the first arrest this morning. At present, a thorough investigation is going on in the matter. We will ensure that strict action is taken against all perpetrators, including the possibility of the death penalty.

Amit Shah spoke to Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Thursday. Sources said Shah asked Singh to take all possible steps to nab all those involved in the incident and take appropriate action as per law.
