Today is the holy bath of Mauni Amavasya. This time this Amavasya has fallen in Triveni Yog. After 50 years, along with Triveni, the bath of Mauni Amavasya is taking place in four other auspicious Yog. On this day, bathing silently in the holy river and doing charity pleases the ancestors.

On Mauni Amavasya, a crowd of devotees gathered since morning at various ghats including Har Ki Pauri Ghat of Haridwar. From four in the morning, devotees reached the ghats chanting slogans. After bathing and donating, they started the day in a devotional atmosphere.

A crowd of devotees was also seen in temples, Shivalayas and Shaktipeeths. Despite the Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, devotees from many states reached Haridwar for bathing.

The police have released the traffic plan regarding the bathing festival. Entry of heavy vehicles into the city will be prohibited from six in the morning till the bathing is over. Zero zone has been kept from Chandi Chowk to Valmiki Chowk, Shivmurti Chowk, and from Shivmurti Chowk to Har ki Pauri, Bhimgoda Barrier to Har ki Pauri.

Astrologer Pandit Rakesh Shukla, priest of Shri Saraswati Temple located at IIT Roorkee, said that Magh Krishna Amavasya is known as Mauni Amavasya. The word Mauni is derived from the word Muni. By bathing in silence on this day, the sins of many births are destroyed. Sage Manu was born on the day of Mauni Amavasya. This time after 50 years, Mauni Amavasya, along with Triveni Yoga, Budh Aditya Yoga, Malavya Yoga, Shasharaj Yoga, and Sarvarth Siddhi Yoga are also falling.

Triveni Yoga is being formed due to the movement of the Moon and Mercury along with the Sun in Capricorn, which is very rare. By bathing in the Ganga in this Yoga, one gets the virtue of bathing in Triveni i.e. Sangam. The day of Mauni Amavasya is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and ancestors. On this day, it is customary to worship Lord Vishnu and the Sun God after taking a bath, etc.
