Bengaluru, Feb 21 (IANS) Chris Hospital Saturday launched a two-wheeler mobile ambulance service here to reach accident victims by navigating through the city's notorious traffic at the earliest and provide emergency treatment to save lives.
"Our two mobike ambulances are equipped with life-saving medicines, intravenous fluids, minor surgical equipment, oxygen cylinders, nebulizers, pulse oxymeters, glucometers and laryngoscope to treat road accident victims at the earliest," Chris Hospital chairman Robert Christopher said.
Karnataka Director General of Police Lalrokhuma Pachuau flagged off the service.
Claimed to be the first of its kind in the state, the mobike ambulance will be driven by a trained paramedic to conduct any life-saving operation.
Studies reveal that many accident victims succumb to grave injuries due to lack of timely treatment during the 'golden hour', as a four-wheeler ambulance takes longer time to reach the accident spot due to grid locks on many thoroughfares in the city.
"Once we receive a message about an accident anywhere in the city, the mobike ambulance will rush to the spot and the paramedic will treat the victim immediately. The victim will be shifted to the hospital at the earliest for further treatment," Christopher said.
The service will also be used to treat patients suffering from heart attack or stroke on receiving an emergency call from them.
