Let us tell you, that Zubair is currently in judicial custody in the Lakhimpur Kheri case. The above relief has been given in the case of Sitapur in UP, so it will not make any difference to the case registered in Lakhimpur and Delhi.

The answer sought from UP government in four weeks

The Supreme Court has given the Uttar Pradesh government four weeks to respond to Zubair's plea. A court in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri on Monday sent Zubair to 14-day judicial custody in a case registered in 2021 for promoting enmity.

Soon after Zubair got interim bail from the Supreme Court in the Sitapur case, the Lakhimpur police served a warrant in another case on Friday. A case was registered against Zubair by a private news channel reporter Ashish Katiyar on November 25, 2021. Katiyar had accused Zubair of misleading people by tweeting about his channel.

Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice A.S. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, appearing for the UP government, appeared before Bopanna's bench. They said they want to file an affidavit against the petition filed by Zubair for quashing the FIR lodged in Sitapur. The bench then listed journalist Zubair's petition for a final hearing on September 7 and asked the Uttar Pradesh government to file its reply within four weeks. Earlier, on July 8, a summer vacation bench of the Supreme Court had granted interim bail to Zubair for five days.
