Former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni created history on Friday by playing an aggressive unbeaten inning of 28 runs in the 34th match of IPL 2024. At the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, 42-year-old Dhoni scored an unbeaten 28 runs in just 9 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes.
MS Dhoni became the first wicketkeeper-batsman to complete 5000 runs in IPL. On the strength of MS Dhoni's innings, CSK scored 176 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. However, MS Dhoni's innings was not enough for CSK as Lucknow Supergiants achieved the target by losing two wickets in 19 overs.

MS Dhoni achieved another feat during his unbeaten inning of 28 runs. He reached sixth place in terms of scoring the most runs in IPL. Dhoni scored 5169 runs in 257 matches. He left AB de Villiers (5162) behind. Apart from CSK, Dhoni represented other teams in 30 matches in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
