He was the state election officer and state membership chief. Tirath Singh Rawat was nominated from the Pauri seat as BJP candidate for the 17th Lok Sabha election in India, in which he won by a huge vote. He defeated his nearest rival Manish Khanduri of Congress by over 2,85,003 votes.
