The central government told the Lok Sabha on Friday that Canada has not provided any evidence to support its serious allegations. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said in a written reply, that such narratives can be detrimental to the bilateral relationship. The government is aware of the allegations against Indian citizens in the US and Canada.
As part of ongoing cooperation with the US, some information shared by the US side related to collusion between criminals, terrorists, and others, which also impacts India's national security interests, is being investigated at a high level. As far as Canada is concerned, it has not provided any evidence to support the allegations.

Congress MP Manish Tiwari asked the government in the Lok Sabha whether it has taken note of the alleged criminal activities involving Indians in the US and Canada. On this, Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh said, 'The government is aware of the allegations of involvement of Indian citizens in alleged acts or intentions in the US and Canada.'
'Committee formed to safeguard India'
The Minister of State further said, 'As part of the ongoing security cooperation with the United States, certain inputs shared by the US side relating to nexus between organized criminals, gun runners, terrorists and others which also have an impact on India's national security interests are being investigated at a high-level. An investigation committee has been formed for this purpose.'
The Minister further said, 'As far as Canada is concerned, it has not produced any evidence in support of the serious allegations it has made.' Manish Tewari further asked the Centre about the impact of these allegations on our bilateral relations with the US and Canada, whether the Government is diplomatically engaged with the countries, and what measures have been taken by the Centre to ensure the safety of Indian nationals in the countries in the event of any possible fallout of these cases.
