At present, the war between Russia and Ukraine does not seem to end. Meanwhile, Russia on Wednesday successfully test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) named Sarmat. These missiles can also carry nuclear weapons with them. 10 or more warheads can be mounted on this missile.
Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated him on the successful test of the missile. Putin said- the missile can destroy any target on Earth. Sarmat will strengthen the Russian Armed Forces, it will protect Russia from external threats and make people who threaten our country think. Explain that the minimum range of ICBM missiles is 5,500 km.
Weapons carrying capacity of 200 tons
This missile has the highest tactical and technical characteristics. It can dodge all anti-missile defense systems. It is capable of carrying weapons weighing over 200 tonnes and multiple nuclear warheads. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the missile was tested at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia.
The ministry said- that Sarmat can destroy any target in the world. This is the most powerful long-range missile, which will increase the strategic nuclear capability of our country. Sarmat is developed to dodge missile-defense systems. It does not give a chance to track the enemy's surveillance system.
Challenges for satellite-based radar and tracking systems
It can carry 10 or more warheads, said Douglas Barry, senior fellow in military aerospace at the International Institute for Strategic Studies. It can attack any pole of the earth. Therefore, the Sarmat missile is a major challenge for land and satellite-based radar and tracking systems.
America was already aware of the launch
However, US Defense Department Pentagon press secretary John Kirby said Russia had already informed the US about the launch. This happened because of the newly introduced Nuclear Arms Control Treaty between Moscow and Washington.
Russia had informed the US about the testing of ICBMs under its treaty. Kirby said it was a regular test. It was no surprise. We did not consider this test a threat to the United States or its allies.
Russia's next-generation missile is Sarmat
Sarmat is one of Russia's next-generation missiles. These missiles also include Kinjal and Avangard hypersonic missiles. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Sarmat is capable of carrying a hypersonic glide vehicle along with other weapons.
According to the Russian military, the Avangard hypersonic vehicle can be fitted in the missile. The army has said that the Avangard is capable of flying 27 times faster than the speed of sound.
