India's star all-rounder Hardik Pandya may be out of India's next match against New Zealand to be held in Dharamsala on October 22. According to media reports, Hardik will be taken to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore where specialist doctors from England will treat him. According to reports, he will be given injections. Hardik is expected to join the Indian team in Lucknow ahead of the match against England on October 29. The Indian team management hopes that he will be available for the match against England.

 

Hardik was called to NCA Bangalore

According to media reports, Hardik will be taken to Bangalore, as he has been asked to report to the NCA. Hardik was taken for scans after the injury. Later he joined the team, but he could not play the entire match. The medical team assessed the scan report of his ankle and felt that he would be fine after taking the injection. According to reports, BCCI consulted an expert doctor in England and he also had the same opinion. In such a situation, he can be rested for one match. However, during this time, the team management may have to think a lot about their replacement and team combination.

 

How did Hardik get hurt?

Actually, during the match against Bangladesh, Hardik tried to stop Liton Das's shot with his right foot. During this, he lost his balance and landed wrongly on his left foot. After this, while getting up from the field, he looked in a lot of pain and was limping. Soon the physio was called to the field. During this time, two senior players Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma were also with him. After the arrival of the physio, the match stopped for about five minutes. The physio applied a bandage on Hardik's left leg and also applied a painkiller spray, but it did not provide relief. Hardik got up and tried to bowl again, but he could not. In such a situation, without any delay and without taking any risk, Rohit sent Hardik out of the field with the physio. By then Hardik had bowled three balls of his first over. Virat Kohli bowled the remaining three balls. He bowled in ODIs after six years.

 

What did Rohit say after the match?

There was no discussion about including anyone else in the World Cup team in place of the injured Hardik. Captain Rohit had said in the post-match presentation ceremony after the victory over Bangladesh that the injury was not a matter of concern. He said, Hardik is worried about the injury, but there is nothing to worry about. We will see how his condition is till Friday morning and then make further plans.

 

If Hardik doesn't play, India can go with this combination

If Hardik Pandya does not play against New Zealand, Shardul can be rested and fast bowler Mohammed Shami can be played, because the pitch of Dharamshala is helpful for fast bowlers. At the same time, a specialist batsman i.e. Suryakumar Yadav may get a chance in place of Hardik. In this combination, India will have six specialist batsmen in the form of Rohit, Shubman, Virat, Shreyas, Rahul, and Surya. At the same time, there will be an all-rounder in the form of Jadeja. There will also be three specialist fast bowlers in the form of Shami, Bumrah, and Siraj, and one specialist spinner in the form of Kuldeep.

Talking about 30-year-old Hardik's performance so far in this World Cup, he has taken five wickets in four matches. During this period his economy rate has been 6.84. The best performance was 2 wickets for 34 runs. At the same time, he got a chance to bat only once against Australia. In that match, he remained unbeaten after scoring 11 runs. Talking about Hardik's overall ODI career, Hardik has taken 84 wickets in 86 ODIs. Also scored 1769 runs with the help of 11 half-centuries.

Before the start of the World Cup 2023, Team India suffered a major setback when left-arm spinner Axar Patel got injured. He suffered an injury during the Asia Cup. After this, Ravichandran Ashwin was included in the team in place of Akshar. Ashwin has got a chance in only one match so far (Australia).
