After the Supreme Court's order regarding stray dogs, the exercise to implement the guidelines has started. The first challenge for the local bodies is to build shelters to keep stray dogs.
That is why the local bodies are working in this direction. However, first of all, as per the Supreme Court's instructions, preparations are being made to issue a helpline number in the next few days to solve the problem of people who are victims of dog bites.
This helpline number can be issued soon. Its office can be made in the MCD headquarters. A senior official of the corporation said that this issue has been discussed with Municipal Commissioner Ashwani Kumar. A meeting was also to be held, but it could not be held because the corporation headquarters was closed after noon due to security reasons.
He said that the meeting will be held when the Civic Center opens at noon on Wednesday. At present, we have been instructed by the higher officials to mark the places to build shelters. The work of catching and putting dogs in it can be started as soon as possible.
However, we have also suggested using unused community buildings and vacant school buildings along with unused MCD buildings. Now a decision will be taken after ground inspection of these places.
A campaign to pick up stray dogs is going on in many places.
Officials also said that our campaign to catch dogs for sterilization is already going on. Under this, we are catching dogs regularly as before and sending them to sterilization centers. Similar preparations are being made in NDMC as well. A series of high-level meetings is also going on in NDMC regarding this.
At present, you can also complain on the MCD app.
Delhi Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh said that we will soon release a helpline number. Which will be dedicated to this. However, MCD has already provided the facility to complain on the mobile app MCD 311.
Citizens can complain by installing it on their mobile. In this, the location from where the complainant is complaining is known through GPS location. Citizens can also upload photos on the app to complain about stray dogs. A similar facility is available on the NDMC 311 app.
