Coronavirus cases in Bihar are continuously increasing in Bihar. On Sunday, a record 85 positive cases were reported in a single day in the state. With this, the number of corona positive patients has crossed 700. Corona cases have also increased in Bihar with the return of migrants (Corona cases in Migrants). Since May 4, so far 85 migrants have undergone Corona test positive. The return of migrants and the limited convenience of Corona testing have increased the government's challenge.
Corona increased in Bihar with the return of migrants
More than one lakh migrants have returned to Bihar since May 1. About 85 thousand more people are expected to return in next few days. The screening and testing of such a large number of people will be a big challenge for the government. On Saturday, the Bihar government reported that 1,100 random tests were carried out in passengers on trains from Nandurbar, Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad, of which 44 were reported positive. Random sampling of about 1,000 migrants is being done daily in the state for the last one week. These areas are being focused, which are coming from the Red Zone.
Capacity of 1800 tests daily in Bihar
According to the Bihar Health Department, it has the capacity to perform about 1,800 tests daily. An average of 1,400-1,500 tests are done daily in six government hospitals and the Rajendra Medical Research Institute (RMRI). The government has also allowed two private laboratories to test, if anyone wants to pay for the test, then he can go and test it here. Health Department Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar said that the test reports of migrants coming to Bihar are shocking. Random samples of 1100 have 4% test positive.
Report of random testing of migrants is shocking
Sanjay Kumar said that we cannot test all the migrants staying in the Quarantine Center as their number has reached more than one lakh. However, we are understanding the challenges and have written to the Indian Council of Medical Research on 9 May to take necessary arrangements and enhance our facilities. Now we can test 1811 daily. If arranged as expected, we will be able to test 8,622 samples per day.
Migrants being kept in quarantine center, investigation being done
The Health Secretary said that in view of Corona's increasing infection, migrants arriving by trains are being kept in the Quarantine Center. With the help of the village head in the villages, we are testing a group of migrants. We have made door-to-door screening arrangements and have screened around 104 million people so far. Have collected 3,849 samples. This shows that it does not have much impact among the people in the state. However, expatriates are definitely a challenge. Bihar Disaster Management Principal Secretary Pratyam Amrit said that we have built a capacity to hold around 3.5 lakh migrants in about 3,500 quarantine centers at the block headquarters. The doctors are arriving daily at the Quarantine Center for investigation. In Quarantine we are keeping people for 21 days.
