Sudan's violent struggle for power between armed forces has reached a critical juncture. A 72-hour ceasefire between the conflicting army and paramilitary forces ends at midnight on Thursday. Meanwhile, Indians who returned home from Sudan via Jeddah heaved a sigh of relief.

 

People said – returning home is like a miracle

Khartoum army agrees to extend the ceasefire

Sudan's army has once again agreed to extend the ceasefire for 72 hours. The agreement has been reached through efforts by the US and Saudi Arabia, which are mediating between the military and paramilitary forces. This ceasefire will come into effect after the current ceasefire expires. Fighting continued in Darfur province on Thursday, according to the AP, in which dozens of people have been killed.
