Chennai, March 17 (IANS) Flying squads and static surveillance teams have seized over Rs.11 crore in cash and kind in Tamil Nadu, the Election Commission said here Monday.
In a statement issued by Tamil Nadu's chief electoral officer till March 16, Rs.100,184,204 in cash and sarees, jewelleries and other non-cash items valued Rs.10,919,810 have been seized.
According to the commission, various steps have been taken like forming flying squads, static surveillance teams in the state to curb bribing of voters during general elections.
"The entire process of seizure has been videographed. The seized cash and other items have been handed over to the treasury and follow-up action is being taken by the district election officers, the statement added.
