The Punjab Assembly of Pakistan has passed a resolution with a majority, demanding that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif be tried for treason. Punjab Parliamentary Affairs Minister Basharat Raza moved a sedition motion against Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the Assembly under Article 6 of the Constitution. It has been said in the resolution that two days ago, PM Shahbaz had discussed with fugitive former PM Nawaz Sharif in London regarding the appointment of the new army chief.

It is noteworthy that Nawaz Sharif had gone to London for treatment after securing eight months of bail from the High Court on health grounds in November 2019, since then he has not returned to Pakistan. Before leaving Pakistan, Nawaz was sentenced to seven years in a corruption case, he was in Lakhpat jail.
