The neighboring country has kept the Indian citizens in Pakistani jails in a bad condition. The situation is that in the last nine months, six Indians in Pakistani jails have died. It is difficult to guess how and why this death happened. Of the six prisoners who died, five were fishermen. India has raised this issue many times in front of the neighboring country for the release of its people lodged in Pakistani jails. Even after this, no step has been taken by Pakistan.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, "In the last 9 months, 6 Indian people have died in Pakistani custody, out of which 5 were fishermen. All these 6 people had completed their sentences. He was illegally detained despite India's appeal for his return to the country.
India has been raising the issue with Pakistan
The Ministry of External Affairs has said that the increasing number of cases of death of Indian prisoners while imprisoned in Pakistan is a matter of concern. The issue of the safety of Indian prisoners has been raised time and again by our High Commission in Islamabad. There is an appeal to the Government of Pakistan that all Indian prisoners should be released immediately and sent to India.
Around 300 Indians were imprisoned in Pakistan
According to media reports, there are more than 300 Indians imprisoned in Pakistan's jails, but the neighboring country says that it has only 260 prisoners. There are many of these prisoners whose sentence has also been completed, yet Pakistan is not releasing them.
