We felt that there should be a discussion on NEET here in the House. I request the Prime Minister that this is a matter of youth and it should be discussed in the right way and it should be a respectful discussion. This message should go from the Parliament that the Government of India and the Opposition are talking about the students together.'
Uproar in Lok Sabha
Later, as soon as the proceedings of the Lok Sabha started, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi raised the issue of NEET and demanded a discussion on the matter along with opposition MPs. Speaker Om Birla insisted that the motion of thanks on the President's address be discussed first.
Rahul Gandhi said, 'We wanted to give a joint message to the students of India on behalf of the opposition and the government that we consider this issue important. Therefore, we thought that to respect the students, we would discuss NEET today.'
