Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of tampering with the facts and making unrestrained comments on the UPA government, the Congress claimed that the BJP government has proved to be weak on every front, from unemployment to economic growth rate, inflation to import-export balance.
Congress retaliated on the PM's statement
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, while replying to the President's address in both houses, hit back at the very sharp attack made by the PM and said that the PM has cursed the UPA and the Congress with the help of countless lies. The Congress President issued a statement saying that PM Modi should answer that during the UPA government, the unemployment rate was 2.2 percent but why is it the highest in 45 years during his tenure? During the 10 years of UPA, the average GDP growth rate was 8.13 percent, so why was it only 5.6 percent during their rule?
Kharge mentioned the World Bank report
Kharge said that according to the World Bank, India became the third-largest economy in the world in 2011. We took 14 crore people out of poverty in 10 years. But the PM is spreading confusion and lies by truncating his speeches here and there. The truth is that the foundation for the progress of Digital India was laid by UPA through Aadhaar and DBT. 65 crore population of the country had been given Aadhaar by 2014. The work of providing direct subsidies started with the DBT initiative. Under Swabhiman Yojana, we had opened 33 crore bank accounts of the poor.
Congress explained the meaning of NDA
Kharge said that PM Modi has been in power for 10 years but instead of talking about himself, he only kept cursing Congress and did not talk about inflation, employment, and economic equality. The real reason is that this government does not have any data. NDA means no data-level government. There is no census, no economic survey, no employment and health survey data, and the government hides all the data and spreads lies. Taking a political dig at PM's guarantee, Kharge said that spreading lies is 'Modi's guarantee'.
Attacking the policies of the Modi government, Kharge said that it is adopting the policy of "sell and loot" regarding government companies. By April 2022, 147 PSUs were sold in whole or in part. Recruitment for government jobs is at a standstill and 30 lakh posts are lying vacant in the government, in which the maximum number of posts are vacant for SC-ST and OBC.
He said that about three lakh posts are vacant in the five ministries of Railways, Steel, Civil Aviation, Defense (non-military), and Petroleum. PM talks about Eklavya schools but does not say that 70 percent of the teachers in them are on contract. Kharge said that it is heartbreaking that the gap between our exports and imports has increased three times in the last 10 years. Despite knowing this fact, the government does not accept it as a problem and does not make improvements.
