
Chhath, the grand festival of sun worship, is being celebrated across the country. This festival, which began on October 25th, will conclude today, October 28th, with the offering of arghya to the Sun God at sunrise. In a short while, fasting women will offer arghya to the rising sun at ghats across the country, marking the end of their 36-hour, waterless fast.
Today, on the final day of the Chhath festival, huge crowds gathered at Chhath ghats along the Ganga, Yamuna, Kosi, Gandak, and Yamuna banks. Grand preparations for Chhath Puja were also seen in metropolitan cities like Patna, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Ranchi. This final day of Chhath is known as Usha Arghya. By offering arghya to the first rays of the morning sun, fasting women pray for the happiness and prosperity of their families, the long life of their children, and the well-being of society.
Earlier, on Sunday evening, devotees offered arghya to the setting sun. On the third day, devotees offered prayers to the setting sun and prayed to Lord Bhaskar and Chhathi Maiya for the happiness and prosperity of their families. Devotees thronged the Ghats of Patna, from cities to villages.

A Flood of Faith swept the banks of the Ganges in the capital, Patna. Thousands of devotees gathered at various ghats, including Digha Ghat, Kankarbagh, and Kurji Ghat, since early morning. A festive atmosphere prevailed in Bihar. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also participated in the Chhath ritual held at the residence of BJP leader Sanjay Mayukh.

In the national capital, Hathi Ghat and Vasudev Ghat, located on the banks of the Yamuna, were crowded with devotees since early morning. Women, dressed in traditional attire, were seen offering prayers to the Sun, carrying fruits, thekua, and coconut bowls.

In Gorakhpur, Varanasi, and Noida, Uttar Pradesh, the outpouring of faith for the Chhath festival was visible at the ghats. Thousands of fasting women offered "Usha Arghya" at Guru Gorakhnath Ghat in Gorakhpur, while elaborate security arrangements were made at the ghats. Meanwhile, in Varanasi, a remarkable confluence of faith and devotion was witnessed on the banks of the Ganges. From Assi Ghat to Rajghat, the melodious echo of Chhath songs filled the atmosphere with devotion. In Noida, devotees performed traditional pujas at temporary ghats along the Yamuna Expressway and at the reservoirs in Sector 78.

This festival begins every year on the Chaturthi Tithi (fourth day) of the Shukla Paksha (waxing moon) of the month of Kartika and continues until the Saptami Tithi (seventh day). The first day of Chhath begins with Nahai-Khaay, followed by Kharna on the second day, Sandhya Arghya on the third day, and Usha Arghya on the fourth day. October 28th is the last day of Chhath. On this day, devotees stand in a holy river or pond in the morning and offer Arghya to the rising sun, after which the four-day-long festival of folk faith concludes.

In Hajipur, Union Minister Nityanand Rai also offered arghya with devotion on the last day of Chhath Mahaparva.
The ritual of offering arghya to the rising sun on the fourth day of the Chhath festival
The fourth day of the Chhath festival is celebrated as the Usha Kaal Arghya.
First, the fasting person offers arghya to the rising sun and performs puja.
On this day, the fasting person should wear clean clothes.
Place milk, Ganga water, turmeric, betel nut, rice grains, and a lamp in the puja plate.
After this, stand waist-deep in water in a river and offer arghya to the sun god.
After offering arghya, pray for happiness, prosperity, and good health for the family.
After the puja is completed, the fasting person should accept the prasad and conclude the fast.

Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal offered 'Usha Arghya' to the rising sun in Kishanganj on the last day of Chhath Puja. After the puja, he said, "This is a great festival of faith. We offered Arghya to the rising sun... Today I had the opportunity to celebrate Chhath Puja in Kishanganj. I pray to Chhathi Maiya for harmony among the people, mutual love, and a healthy and prosperous life for all."
On the other hand, Keshav Prasad Maurya, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and the election in-charge of Bihar, also participated in the Chhath Puja in Patna.

Rs. 5 crore 17 lakh has been approved for the Kunkuri Chhath Ghat, and a beautiful Chhath Ghat will be built here. We believe that by next year's Chhath festival, this ghat will be ready."
