Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Karnataka on his one-day visit. Jagadguru Sri Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji felicitated Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Udupi with the Vishwa Geeta Paryayam - Lakshya Kantha Geeta Parayan.

'Udupi is the Karmabhoomi of the Jana Sangh and the BJP's good governance model'

Addressing a public gathering, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Visiting Udupi is also special for me because Udupi has been the Karmabhoomi of the Jana Sangh and the BJP's good governance model. In 1968, the people of Udupi elected V.S. Acharya to the municipal council here... The cleanliness campaign we see across the country today was adopted by Udupi five decades ago...

Energy is also the power of spirituality - PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi further said, "Mantras and verses from the Gita have been recited in our society for centuries, but when one lakh voices recite these verses in unison... an energy is released that gives our mind and brain a new vibration, a new strength... This energy is also the power of spirituality, this energy is the power of social unity, and therefore, today, this occasion of one lakh voices reciting the Gita has become an opportunity to experience a huge mass of energy."

PM Modi to inaugurate the 'Swarna Tirtha Mantap'

During his visit, PM Modi will inaugurate the 'Swarna Tirtha Mantap', which has been built in front of the sanctum sanctorum of Lord Krishna. He will also dedicate the 'Kanak Kavach' (the golden armour). This is the golden cover on the Kanakana Kindi, from where the devotee and saint Kanakadasa had his first darshan of Lord Krishna. The Sri Krishna Matha was established about 800 years ago by Sri Madhvacharya, the founder of the Dvaita Vedanta philosophy.
