The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has released an audio recording of Ajit Pawar's last phone conversation before his death in a plane crash last week. Ajit Pawar spoke to party member Shrijit Pawar before taking off from Mumbai for Baramati.

In his last conversation, Ajit Pawar conveyed a message of unity and equality, emphasizing the need to bring together all religions and castes. Recounting the call, Shrijit Pawar said he had sent a message to Ajit Pawar, affectionately known as 'Dada' in Maharashtra politics, and that Pawar called him back as soon as he was in an area with network coverage.

'Ajit Dada called me after I messaged him.'

He said, "Ajit Dada and I are from the same village. I had sent him a message regarding a specific matter. As soon as he got network coverage, he called me. He said that we are taking all castes and religions along with us."

Why was the audio released?

The reason for making the audio public is that Pawar had a message that the party believes should reach the public. Shrijit Pawar said, "This is an attempt to bring this audio call recording to everyone's attention so that Maharashtra knows what Ajit Dada's thoughts were until his last breath."

What is in the audio clip?

The conversation between the two leaders went like this:

Ajit Pawar: "We are taking all castes and religions along with us."

Shrijit Pawar: "No, Dada, I just said what I felt."

Ajit Pawar: "The Mali community has been given representation in the Zilla Parishad from the Supe group. We have tried to give justice to everyone."

Shrijit Pawar: "Yes, Dada, take whatever decision you think is right."
