PM Modi: Mamta Banerjee can meet PM Modi on December 5, and these issues can be discussed

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to meet PM Narendra Modi on December 5 on the sidelines of the Chief Ministers' meeting in New Delhi. An official said on Sunday that in a possible meeting, Mamata may pressurize the Center to release the dues of the state. Apart from this, she can also raise the issue of erosion happening in and around the Farakka Barrage.

 

Prime Minister Modi has called a meeting of chief ministers in the national capital as India will host the G-20 summit in 2023. Meanwhile, there is news that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to meet Prime Minister Modi on December 5 on the sidelines of the chief ministers' meeting in New Delhi.

 

An official gave this information on Sunday. The chief minister is also expected to raise the issue of pending dues for implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act in Bengal in the meeting, the official said.

 

Mamta Banerjee is worried about this

In a memorandum to PM Modi, Banerjee had informed that the state's dues from the central government till July 31, 2022, are estimated to be around Rs 1,00,968.44 crore. Banerjee had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing concern over the continuous erosion on the banks of river Ganga in Malda, Murshidabad, and Nadia districts of the state. He had requested the Prime Minister to advise the concerned ministry to conduct a detailed study involving all stakeholders and prepare an integrated plan to control the situation.

 

President Draupadi Murmu's cataract surgery

President Draupadi Murmu on Sunday underwent cataract surgery on her right eye at the Army Hospital (Referral and Research). The surgery was successful and he has been discharged from the hospital. Murmu, 64, had undergone cataract surgery on his left eye at the Army Hospital on October 16.

 

Karnataka: Fear of data theft of voters, an order issued for investigation

Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Manoj Kumar Meena said the probe has been ordered over apprehensions that members of a non-governmental organization (NGO) may be collecting the personal information of voters by posing as booth-level officers during a voter awareness campaign. The Congress had alleged theft of data related to voters here.
