PM Modi's statement 'Today's era is not of war' added in the G20 joint declaration, America also praised

PM Modi made it clear that today's era should not be of war. “Today is not the age of war,” Modi had said in his statement to Putin at a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Samarkand in September this year against the backdrop of the Ukraine-Russia conflict.

 

What is G-20 Joint Declaration

According to the G20 joint declaration adopted on Wednesday, 'It is essential to uphold international law and the multilateral system that protects peace and stability. This includes defending the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and upholding international humanitarian law, including the protection of civilians and infrastructure in armed conflicts. Today's era should not be of war.

 

India made a constructive contribution to the G-20 format

During a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said, PM Modi's message that 'this is not an era of war' resonated deeply with all the delegations and helped bridge the gap between various parties. "India played a key role in the successful negotiation of the outcome document," Kwatra said. At the special briefing, Kwatra also said that India made a constructive contribution to the drafting of the G20 outcome document.

 

White House praised PM Modi

White House Press Secretary Jean Pierre also lauded PM Modi's role in addressing food and energy security challenges and reiterated US support for India's G20 Presidency. 'We addressed current food and energy security challenges and efforts to build a resilient global economy,' said Jean-Pierre. PM Modi's connections were crucial for this result. We look forward to supporting India's G20 presidency next year.

 

The world will not have a solution to the food crisis

During the pandemic, India ensured the food security of its 1.3 billion citizens. At the same time, food grains were also supplied to many needy countries. The current shortage of fertilizers is also a major threat in terms of food security. Today's fertilizer shortage is tomorrow's food crisis, which the world will not have a solution for.

At the summit, PM Modi said, 'We should build a mutual agreement to keep the supply chain of both fertilizers and food grains stable and assured. In India, for sustainable food security, we are promoting natural farming and re-popularizing nutritious and traditional food grains like millet. We all should celebrate the International Millet Year with great enthusiasm next year.

 

Energy security is important for global development

India's energy security is also important for global growth, as it is the fastest-growing economy in the world. PM Modi said, 'We should not promote any restrictions on the supply of energy and stability should be ensured in the energy market. India is committed to clean energy and the environment. By 2030, half of our electricity will be generated from renewable sources. A timely and inclusive energy transition requires a sustainable supply of affordable finance and technology to developing countries.'

 

The eyes of the world on India

As India takes over the G20 Presidency for the year 2023 from Indonesia, all eyes are on India as New Delhi sets the agenda, creating an environment for greater cooperation between the two advanced countries of the Global South. The agenda will likely be cooperation for sustainable and equitable development for shared global peace and prosperity and capacity building to address emerging global challenges.

 

G-20 influence in North America and Europe

As one of the largest multilateral platforms, controlling 85 percent of the world's gross domestic product (GDP) and two-thirds of its population, the G20 wields significant influence, especially in the developed countries of North America and Europe.
