PM Modi may visit Manipur on September 13. This is his first visit after ethnic violence broke out in the state

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to Mizoram on September 13. He is going to inaugurate the new Bairabi-Sairang railway in Mizoram. From Mizoram, he can go to Manipur.

 

No official information about the Manipur tour

No official information has been given about the Manipur tour, but many officials of the Mizoram government said that they have received information that PM Modi can go to Manipur from Aizawl.

 

If PM Modi goes to Manipur from Mizoram, then this will be the PM's first visit to Manipur after ethnic violence broke out in the state in 2023. At least 260 people have died and thousands have been rendered homeless in ethnic violence between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur since May 2023.

 

Proposed VVIP visit to the state

Meanwhile, Manipur Chief Secretary Punit Kumar Goyal on Tuesday told officials that a meeting was held to review the arrangements for the proposed VVIP visit to the state. He said that the newly constructed secretariat and other completed projects can be inaugurated during the proposed visit of the VVIP.

However, he did not reveal the name of the VVIP. In an order issued to all SPs and COs (MR/IRB battalions) on August 30, the DGP of Manipur said that, in view of the necessity of duty during this period, no leave should be granted to any officer/employee from September 7 to 14, except in case of extreme emergency.
