Legendary Pakistani fast bowler Wasim Akram has strongly criticized the Pakistan team after their defeat against India in the Asia Cup 2025 Super Four. Akram categorically stated that Team India outplayed Pakistan in every department. He questioned Pakistan's batting, bowling, and strategy. Akram said, "India outplayed Pakistan in every department, and this has been happening for the last four or five years. We (Pakistan) have only won once or twice."
Need for Improvement in Batting
Speaking to official broadcasters, Akram also targeted Pakistan's batting. He said that the team was in a good position at 91/1 in 10 overs, but could only manage 171 runs. Akram said that in such a situation, the team should have reached 200 runs. He urged the players to play domestic cricket, especially red-ball cricket. Akram said, "There are a lot of weaknesses. The players should play a certain amount of red-ball cricket." This is the only way you can understand the spinners and perform better.
An effective strategy is not seen in bowling either
Akram also criticized Pakistan's bowling department. He said that when you have a good score and are playing against a strong team, the main bowlers should be given enough overs. He said, "When you are playing against such a strong team and have a good score on the board, you should give some overs to your main bowlers, be it Shaheen Afridi or someone else. But you made Abrar bowl the over. By then, the game was over."
Abhishek Sharma's explosive performance
In this match, India got off to a great start while chasing the target of 172 runs. Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a great start and batted explosively. Abhishek scored 74 runs in 39 balls to help the team reach the winning target and won the Player of the Match award. Shubman Gill also played an innings of 47 runs.
India's continued dominance
With this win, India remains unbeaten in the Asia Cup 2025. Pakistan, meanwhile, must win all of its remaining matches to reach the final. Pakistan's next match is against Sri Lanka today. A defeat would virtually eliminate the team from the tournament. India will face Bangladesh on Wednesday.
