Several bilateral agreements were signed on Monday during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Lumbini, Nepal. Among them, two agreements between Nepal's KU i.e. Kathmandu University and IIT Madras are very important for the higher education sector.
Apart from these, in three other agreements, the Indian Council for Cultural Relations
(ICCR) has signed MoUs with three universities in Nepal. Important among them are MoUs with Kathmandu University (KU), Lumbini Buddhist University, and CNAS, Tribhuvan University in Nepal.
Two MoUs between Kathmandu University and IIT-M
MoU was signed for cooperation between Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M), India. In addition, MoU has been signed between Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M), India for the Joint Degree Program at Post Graduate (Master) level.
Three agreements between ICCR and Nepalese universities
An MoU has been signed between the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Lumbini Buddhist University on the establishment of the Dr. Ambedkar Chair for Buddhist Studies. At the same time, agreements have been signed between two Nepal universities CNAS, Tribhuvan University, and Kathmandu University (KU) on the establishment of the ICCR Chair for Indian Studies by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR).
We will also cooperate in electricity generation
At the same time, in addition to academic agreements, a memorandum of cooperation has been signed in the power generation sector in India and Nepal. Under the agreement, a cooperation agreement has been signed between the Indian Public Sector Undertaking SJVN Limited and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for the development and implementation of the Arun-4 Hydro-Project in Nepal.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Lumbini in Nepal on an official visit on Monday morning. On reaching Lumbini, Prime Minister of Nepal Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife Arzoo Deuba received Prime Minister Modi.
