Dearness allowance increased by four percent
Central employees (DAs) have been waiting for the increase in dearness allowance since January. In the Cabinet Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, the government decided to increase dearness allowance by four percent. This decision will be valid from January 1 this year.
The gratuity limit will now increase from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh
With this increase, dearness allowance will become 50 percent of the basic salary and it will also increase the residential allowance and gratuity received by central employees. Different sections will get their benefits according to their salary. Giving information about this decision, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that the gratuity limit of central employees will now increase from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. Currently, the maximum limit of gratuity is Rs 20 lakh. He said that just a four percent increase in dearness allowance would put an annual financial burden of Rs 12,868.72 crore on the government. However, due to the increase in other types of allowances, central employees will get a separate benefit of Rs 9,400 crore between January this year and February next year.
Ujjwala cylinder will continue to be available with a subsidy for one more year
The Ujjwala scheme will now continue till March 31, 2025. During the next one year, families covered under the scheme will get 12 LPG cylinders with a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder. The period of PM Ujjwala Yojana, implemented in the year 2016, was ending in March 2024. The government will make a provision of Rs 12,000 crore to extend the Ujjwala scheme by one year. Currently, there are 10.27 crore beneficiaries under the scheme. Now 14.2 kg gas cylinder will be available to all of them for Rs 603.
