Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he has offered to supply India's food reserves to the world if the World Trade Organization (WTO) allows it during his talks with US President Joe Biden. The PM made this big statement during the inauguration program of Shri Annapurna Dham Trust's hostel and education complex in Adalaj, Gujarat through video conferencing.
The world's food stores are getting empty
Referring to the ongoing war between Russia-Ukraine, the Prime Minister said that due to this war, food stocks are depleting in different parts of the world. Today the world is facing a precarious situation, as no one is getting what he needs. The availability of petrol, oil, and fertilizers is decreasing. He said that the world has now become a new and biggest problem. That is, the world's granary is getting empty. He further said that when I was talking to the US President and he raised this issue, I suggested that India is ready to supply food stocks to the world from tomorrow if the WTO allows it.
Indian farmers praised
Modi said that every country is trying to keep its food stock safe due to the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war, but we already have enough food for our people. While praising the farmers of the country, the Prime Minister said that our farmers have also made arrangements to feed the world. However, we have to work according to the laws of the world, so I don't know when the WTO will allow and when we can supply food to the world.
