Posted on 11th Jan 2024 10:49 am by rohit kumar

It has been more than three months since the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas. While so far more than 1200 lives have been lost in Hamas attacks in Israel, more than 23,000 deaths have occurred due to Israeli army attacks in the Gaza Strip. Despite appeals from the international community, Israel has not yet stopped attacks in Gaza. Meanwhile, today Israel has to face genocide charges in the International Court of Justice in Hague. The case filed by South Africa is to be heard for two consecutive days today and tomorrow (Thursday-Friday).

Meanwhile, the Israeli government stated its appearance in the International Court and completely rejected the allegations of genocide in Gaza. Recently, the Israeli Prime Minister had publicly rejected the proposal by some right-wing parties to permanently occupy Gaza. Now the Israeli government has said that during its appearance in the International Court on Thursday, we will answer all the allegations of South Africa, which itself is providing political and legal facilities to the rapacious regime of Hamas.

South Africa made these allegations in court

Filing a lawsuit in court, South Africa alleged that Israel was violating the rules of the treaty. Israel is intensifying its military operations in Gaza day by day. The rights of the Palestinian people are being violated. It is necessary to stop this. Africa has demanded the court to order Israel to either immediately stop the ongoing military operations in Gaza or to issue some short-term measures so that the rights of Palestinian citizens can be protected.

What is ICJ?

Let us tell you, that the International Court of Justice is a venue to resolve the ongoing dispute between two countries. The court is located in the European country Hague. ICJ is considered the highest court of the United Nations. The decision of this court doesn't need to be accepted. Many times countries have ignored the court's decision. Recently the court had ordered Russia to immediately stop its ongoing military operations in Ukraine but Russia did not do so and continued to brutally attack Ukraine.
