US President Donald Trump invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had come to attend the G-7 summit, to visit the US while returning from Canada. However, PM Modi said that he could not accept the invitation due to pre-scheduled programs. PM Modi invited Trump to visit India for the Quad summit, which is likely to be held later this year.

Trump left the G-7 meeting midway amid the growing conflict between Israel and Iran. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that PM Modi and President Trump were to meet during the G-7 meeting, but this meeting could not take place due to the US President leaving early. After this, Trump insisted on talking to PM Modi, after which this conversation was fixed.

Modi-Trump will try to meet shortly

Vikram Misri said, 'President Trump asked Prime Minister Modi if he would stop in America while returning from Canada. Prime Minister Modi expressed his inability to do so due to prior commitments. Both the leaders decided that they would try to meet shortly.'

Trump accepted Modi's invitation, and said - looking forward to coming to India.

During this, Trump and Modi shared their views on the Indo-Pacific region and expressed support for the important role of Quad in the region. He further said, 'Prime Minister Modi invited President Trump to visit India for the next meeting of the Quad. President Trump accepted the invitation and said that he is looking forward to coming to India.'
