Police have registered an FIR after the news of the murder of pregnant Hathini in Kerala. BJP leader and animal rights activist Maneka Gandhi has strongly condemned it and demanded action. At the same time, industrialist Ratan Tata has also expressed his sorrow over it and called it a thoughtful murder. At the same time, justice is demanded.
Industrialist Ratan Tata expressed his grief on Wednesday in a tweet. He wrote that I am shocked and saddened to find that some people fed innocent, pregnant palm with a pineapple full of firecrackers which led to his death. Such criminal acts against innocent animals is no different from the thoughtful killing of a human being.
Earlier, many Bollywood actors such as Anushka Sharma, Shraddha Kapoor, Randeep Hooda, etc., demanded strict action against this kind of cruelty against animals.
Let us tell you that a pregnant wild elephant in Kerala's Silent Valley Forest was a victim of human cruelty. After which Hathini died in the Velliyar River on 27 May. A pineapple filled with crackers was burst in Hathini's mouth. Due to this, Hathini's gums broke badly and she could not even eat.
Ultimately the elephant killed. Chief Wildlife Warden Surendra Kumar said that the cracker was fed with the intention of killing Hathini. Meanwhile, a top forest official said that a similar incident has happened in the Pathanapuram forest area of Punalur mandal in Kollam district in April.
The guilty will not be spared: Minister
Kerala Forest Minister K Raju said that while refusing to say anything on Maneka Gandhi's remarks, I want to clarify that the incident happened in Palakkad, not in Malappuram. Also, I want to say that the culprits responsible for the murder of Hathini will not be spared.
Central government asked for report
Meanwhile, Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, taking a serious view on the incident, said that a full report has been sought from the Kerala government. Javadekar said that we have asked for a full report on the incident. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.
