New Delhi, Jan 3 (IANS) President Pranab Mukherjee Saturday greeted people on the eve of Prophet Mohammad's birthday Milad-un-Nabi, saying "let us resolve on this day to help the needy and work for the well-being of all".
In his message, Mukherjee said: "On the auspicious occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, I extend my greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens in India and abroad."
"As we celebrate the birthday of the Holy Prophet, let us recall his life and ideals. May his teachings of universal love and compassion guide each one of us to live in fellowship, harmony and unity," the president said.
"Let us resolve on this day to help the needy and work for the well-being of all."
Vice President Hamid Ansari also extended his greetings and good wishes to all citizens.
"On this hallowed occasion, let us commit ourselves to remain true to the timeless virtues of peace, compassion, tolerance and forgiveness, as taught by the Holy Prophet," he said in his message.
