New Delhi, Jan 20 (IANS) Environment and Forest Minister Prakash Javadekar Tuesday said that the tiger population in India had increased by 30.5 percent, and the country was now prepared to share with other countries its good practices.

"The tiger population has gone up from 1,706 to 2,226 tigers...We are proud of our efforts. This corresponds to a little over 30 percent increase," Javadekar said at the inaugural session of the meeting of field directors and chief wildlife wardens on best practices and wildlife crime monitoring systems organised by National Tiger Conservation Authority.
