Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he was proud of the way multi-party parliamentary delegations presented India's viewpoint in various countries on the need to end the threat of terrorism after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
Prime Minister Modi met these multi-party delegations on Tuesday. These delegations visited the capitals of 33 countries during the last few weeks.
The Prime Minister said in a post on 'X', "Met members of various delegations who represented India in various countries and discussed in detail the need to end the threat of terrorism and India's commitment to peace. We are all proud of the way they presented India's viewpoint."
More than 50 current MPs were included in seven delegations
The MPs included in the delegation shared their experiences with Prime Minister Modi during this time. The central government has already praised their work. More than 50 current MPs were included in these seven delegations. Along with this, former MPs and former diplomats were also made members of them.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has already met these delegations and appreciated their efforts to make the world aware of India's strong stand against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. "We apprised the Prime Minister of the overwhelming support extended by these friendly countries to India's resolute fight against terrorism and our unwavering commitment to global peace," Shiv Sena's Srikant Shinde said on X.
Shinde led the delegation to the UAE, Congo, Sierra Leone, and Liberia. "The Prime Minister appreciated our efforts and shared his inspiring vision to raise India's stature on the world stage. His words have inspired us to work tirelessly for the country," Srikant said.
Who was leading the delegations?
Four delegations were led by MPs from the ruling coalition, including two from the BJP, one from the JDU, and one from the Shiv Sena. While three were led by opposition MPs, including those from the Congress, DMK, and NCP (SP). The delegations were led by BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad and Baijayant Panda, Congress' Shashi Tharoor, JDU's Sanjay Jha, Shiv Sena's Srikant Shinde, DMK's Kanimori and NCP (SP)'s Supriya Sule.
The government had sent these all-party delegations to give a message of national unity in the fight against terrorism. MPs like Congress MP Shashi Tharoor and AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi were among the members of the ruling coalition. Prominent former MPs among the delegation members were leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad and Salman Khurshid.
