Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Channi on Thursday presented the report card of the first 50 days of his government. Channi said that ever since he assumed power in the state, at least 50 pro-people decisions have been taken and all of them have been implemented. The Congress has appointed Charanjit Singh Channi as the Chief Minister of the state after a confrontation and resignation with Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and Amarinder Singh.
Presenting the report card, the Chief Minister said that people say this is a Channi government, I say it is a Changi (good) government. He said that out of 72 lakh consumers of Punjab, 68 lakh consumers were benefitted by making electricity cheaper by Rs 3 per unit for load up to 7 kW from 1st November. Channi said that his government has given benefits to the public by deducting Rs 2.34 per unit as compared to Rs 17.91 per unit of the previous government.
Taking a jibe at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, Channi said comparison cannot be made between him and the Delhi Chief Minister as Kejriwal is an outsider. How can he compare himself to me? I am a true Punjabi, he is an outsider. He cannot compete with me in understanding Punjab, its needs, its culture.
He further said that the Punjab government would pay the electricity bills for the supply of water in the villages. The government will bear the water supply bill in the cities as well. Let us inform you that assembly elections are to be held in Punjab early next year.
