Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh), April 17 (IANS) Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi Thursday accused the BJP of "dividing" the country into two parts and said his party wants a "united" India.
"If the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) comes to power, the country will fall in the grip of only five to six very rich people," Gandhi said while addressing a rally here.
"We want a united single Hindustan, whereas the BJP wants to divide it into two parts."
Gandhi also criticised the Gujarat model of development and said it did not matter whether it was called a "toffee model or a tea model" because the fact was it benefitted only a select few industrialist friends of the Gujarat government.
"Their ideology is that of 'India Shining'. They want to take the money and resources of the people and give it to two-three industrialists," he said, referring to the BJP.
"They want the poor to remain poor. Their politics is of anger, hatred and to make people fight," he added.
