Railway: Survey of Indo-Myanmar-Bhutan rail link completed, GM of Northeast Frontier Railway gave information

Indian Railways is rapidly expanding its railway network with neighboring countries. After Pakistan and Bangladesh, work is on adding rail service to Bhutan and Myanmar at a fast pace. Amidst all this, the GM of Northeast Frontier Railway, Anshul Gupta has given a lot of information about the new projects of the railway. Under this, he has given the latest update about the India-Myanmar-Bhutan rail link. He said that the survey of the India-Myanmar rail link has been completed. Myanmar rail connectivity will be done till Moreh in Manipur. The work on the project will start as soon as it is approved, and we expect it to be completed in 2-2.5 years.

 

Nepal Rail Connectivity

On the other hand, GM of Northeast Frontier Railway Anshul Gupta has also given new information about Nepal rail connectivity. He said that work is on to connect the rail service to Biratnagar and it would be completed by March. Apart from this, the work for Nepal Custom Yard will be completed by December.

 

Rail Service to Bhutan

Anshul Gupta said that as far as connectivity with Bhutan is concerned, the survey for the first rail link has started. It will be completed by March. Connectivity will be from Kokrajhar (Assam) to Gelephu (Bhutan). We expect the work to be completed in 2-2.5 years as soon as the project is approved.

 

Two more rail routes to Bangladesh are to be completed by March 2023

Anshul Gupta said that we have already started New Jalpaiguri Mitali Express train for Bangladesh. It is connected to Haldibari (WB). Two rail routes will be completed by March 2023 which will go from Karimganj (Assam) to Shahbazpur (Pradesh) and Agartala (Tripura) to Akhaura (Badesh) via Nischintapur (West Bengal).

 

Kohima Rail Connectivity

Anshul Gupta said that as far as connectivity in Kohima, the capital of Nagaland is concerned, work is going on on a war footing. Hence, all connectivity will be completed except in Shillong, Meghalaya, where there are land acquisition issues. It is expected to be completed in the next 2-3 years.
