Rao Study Centre accident: MCD and fire department guilty in magistrate investigation, this was revealed in the report

The magisterial probe into the death of three UPSC aspirants due to flooding in the basement of Rao Coaching Centre has indicated malicious violation of several laws by the MCD and the fire department. The probe report states that the MCD and fire department officials had noticed the violations earlier, but no action was taken. The magisterial probe has also indicted the IAS Study Circle. The report submitted to the Revenue Minister has made several revelations.

 

The report states that the owner and management of Rao Coaching Centre were also responsible for criminal negligence by engaging in dangerous misuse of the basement without caring for the lives of the students. The report revealed that 'violations of rules' in the building were noticed earlier by the MCD and fire department officials, but they did not take any action.

 

15 people, including students and officials of various departments, were questioned in the probe. The report states that the MCD did not remove encroachment from the drain here. Also, despite the possibility of waterlogging due to being located at a low place, the silt has not been removed from the drains in the area for the last five years. At the same time, the fire department also failed to mention the misuse of the building's basement as a library to the MCD during an inspection on July 1 this year.

 

Court seeks CBI's reply on bail plea of ​​four co-owners

The court on Wednesday issued notice to the CBI on the bail pleas of four co-owners of the basement, who are in jail in connection with the accident in the Rajendra Nagar coaching center basement. Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandana has directed the central investigating agency to file its reply by August 9. Only after this, the court will hear the bail pleas of the four accused Parvinder Singh, Tajinder Singh, Harvinder Singh, and Sarabjit Singh.

 

Issuing the notice, the court said that since the copy of the FIR has not been brought before the court, it cannot decide on the bail pleas filed by the accused. The High Court had recently handed over the investigation of the deaths in the basement of the coaching center building in Old Rajendra Nagar from the police to the CBI.
