Srinagar records -4°C temperature, Delhi-NCR issues yellow cold wave alert; weather forecast for other states

Temperatures are expected to drop sharply in many parts of North and Central India. According to the Meteorological Department, cold winds are likely to create cold wave conditions in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi-NCR, northwestern Maharashtra, and parts of Madhya Pradesh. With the onset of December, morning and night chills have increased.

 

 

The temperature was recorded at minus four degrees in Srinagar

Cold has intensified in Delhi-NCR, and the India Meteorological Department has issued a yellow cold wave alert for the region. Today (December 4, 2025), the minimum temperature is expected to hover around 10-12 degrees Celsius. In Kashmir, Srinagar recorded a temperature of minus four degrees.

 

 

Meanwhile, heavy snowfall continues in hilly areas, especially in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir. The mercury has dropped below zero, reaching -18°C in some places. This snowfall has also increased the cold in the plains. Some roads, such as Rohtang, have been closed.

 

 

Temperatures in Kashmir are below freezing, and a cold wave is prevailing. In the high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh, water has turned to ice, and continuous snowfall is occurring.

 

 

Situation in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Punjab

In the plains, the cold has intensified due to icy winds blowing from the mountains. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that this year's winter season, due to the La Niña effect, could be the coldest in the last few decades. The mercury has dropped sharply in Punjab and Haryana, and cold wave conditions are prevailing.

 

 

Cold wave to prevail in Delhi

Nights and evenings are also very cold in Delhi. The minimum temperature on Wednesday (December 3, 2025) was recorded at 7°C. The IMD has predicted cold wave conditions at isolated places in Delhi on December 5, 2025.

 

 

Situation in Uttar Pradesh

Minimum temperatures are expected to remain below normal. Today (December 4, 2025), the minimum temperature is predicted to be 8°C. Below-normal minimum temperatures and more cold wave days are expected across North and Central India from December 2025 to February 2026. Dense fog is also expected in the mornings.

 

 

Rajasthan is experiencing severe cold.

Rajasthan is currently experiencing severe cold, and a yellow cold wave alert has been issued for several districts. Cold winds blowing from northern India have caused a sharp drop in temperatures.

 

 

Fatehpur Shekhawati in Sikar is currently one of the coldest places, with a minimum temperature of around 3 degrees Celsius. Mount Abu also recorded temperatures close to or below zero degrees Celsius, making it the coldest place in the state.

 

 

Cold wave continues in Rajasthan.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow cold wave alert for the next few days for Churu, Jhunjhunu, and Sikar districts. After snowfall in the hilly states, cold winds are blowing in the plains, which is directly affecting the weather of Rajasthan, and the cold has increased.
