The first match of the three-match T20 series between India and the West Indies will be played on Wednesday. Before this match, former India spinner Harbhajan Singh told who should start the Indian innings with Rohit Sharma. KL Rahul was injured before the T20 series and he will not play all three T20 matches. At the same time, Ishaan Kishan and Rituraj Gaikwad are there to play the role of opener in the team and either of them can open the innings with Rohit Sharma.

Now former India spinner Harbhajan Singh was asked on Star Sports' show Game Plan whether Ishan Kishan should be drafted as India's backup opener in T20 cricket. In response to this question, Harbhajan suggested that India should include Rahul and Kishan in the T20I playing XI. Harbhajan Singh said that if KL Rahul bats at number five, Ishan Kishan can open the innings with skipper Rohit Sharma.

Harbhajan Singh said that there is no need to prepare Ishaan Kishan as he is a ready player. You have to give him a chance to play and you have to think about how you can give him a place in the playing XI. If KL Rahul can bat at No.5 in ODIs then why can't it happen in T20 format. Bhajji said that when KL Rahul comes down in ODIs, he is capable of playing big shots. So if he bats at No. 5 in T20s, I think it will not be a bad thing, because with his coming you will be able to play big shots. The middle-order will be stronger. On the other hand, if you want 40-60 runs in the first 6 overs of T20, then you need a fearless batsman like Ishan Kishan.
